The PSC and Pepco both file briefs defending their rate hike decision against the Office of the People’s Counsel’s appeal
On July 23 and 24, Pepco and the PSC both filed separate briefs defending the rate hike that went into effect starting January 2025. These briefs, filed in DC’s Court of Appeals, are responses to the Office of the People’s Counsel’s (OPC) filing that the multiyear rate pilot extension (aka the 12% rate hike over two years) was unjust and unreasonable. The briefs from Pepco and the PSC defend their positions in favor of the rate hike by explaining their reasoning and offering evidence refuting the OPC’s claims.
The rate hike being litigated is for service delivery charges, not for energy charges. Oral arguments for this case are expected to occur sometime in August. Updates to this case can be found in the PSC’s edocket system under FC1176.
